2012 REFLECTION

This is the last post I will be writing until I go to intermediate and I want to share some of my highlights from this year.

My favourite highlight of the year is my AWESOME teacher Mr Marquand. He is the funniest teacher you will meet and he is the kindiest teacher you will ever meet. He has been my best teacher yet and I've enjoyed him being my teacher and I will miss him a lot.

My second highlight is my four best freinds Awhina, Aria, Bailey and of course Monisha. They have been like sisters to me and I appreciate all they have done for me. We have had our ups and downs but we still stick together.

My third highlight of the year is my maths, reading and writing. I have gotten so much better at it and I am proud of myself.

My last thoughts are that I loved it here and I'm shore anyone else would love it here to.

Im am really going to miss this school and the six years of fun, learning and acheivements. It is really hard leaving but I know that I have to and I am still going to look back at my years here.

Room15 assembly

Last week on Friday room 15 had their assembly. What our assembly was about was same same but different and what that means is when people are different in some ways and the same in others. I was really nervous and all I could think about was the thought of me being up on stage in front of every one in the school. I was in the e-pal skit and what I had to do was say what the students were going to do and tell them to go and write there first email to there buddy. I was shaking but I still did it. Our school song was Bruno Mars count on me and everyone seemed to like it. My favourite part of the assembly was the cow to glass skit and how my best friend Bailey who was acting as Suzy the scientist  jumped out of her box and said hi Tella the tanker driver. At the end of our assembly I was proud of my self and I would love to do it again.

Same, same but different

2 weeks ago room 15 did collage. Our task was to make a weird or creative  face out of lots of different cut out faces. First I thought of what my face was going to look like and then I got all the peices I needed to make it and I put them all together and this is how it turned out.

How many faces do you think I used?

Adding detail

This week we have been learning to add detail by starting from 3 or 4 words and changing it to create a better picture. The sentence I choose was THE DOG BARKED
and below this is how I made it more detail.

The brown angry pit-bull barked at me as I slowly and quietly stumbled out of my flash black truck. My heart was beating like an old steam train. My head was pounding and all I had left to do was run.

Kaleidoscope art

In room15 we have been doing kaleidoscope art. To do this I had to rotate some of the peices to make it look like a reflection of the photo. Doing this we all had to make this photo look like a kaleidoscope effect. My challenge about this was the acctual putting together the peices of some of the photo and also making the shape of this. I would love to do this again and make my next one look even better.

Discovery Speech

Hey its Kaawhia. here and in Room 15 we have been doing our speeches.

My speech topic is on Kupe. He was the first person to discover New Zealand.

I chose this topic because I wanted to find out more about what he came on to

find New Zealand and how he navigated hi way here. Before my speech I felt

really nervous and I had butterfly's in my tummy. After my speech I felt really

relieved that I had done it and I was glad that it was out of my system. I am

really proud of myself for taking up my fear and doing my speech in front of the

class. It was also freaky when I was saying my speech because there was 46 eyes

looking at me the whole time. Next time I would like to improve on finding out

more facts and making my speech more intresting.

Disaster post

This week and last week we all had to do a project on a natural disaster. We could do a poster or a power point I choose a poster .The thingliked the most was was the interesting facts and how the poster standed out.

speeches

Before my speech I felt nervous, scared and I had butterflys in my tummy.

After my speech I felt relieved that it was done and I was so proud of myself.

I think something I did well in my was the detail I gave and also the pictures and eye contact.

My goal was to not be nervous speak clearly and also to be confident in myself and I deffintly think I acheived those goals.

Next time what I think I need to work on is to be a little bit more confident and use some more expression.

last week of the term

On the last week of the term Mr Marquand said that we were going to do Calender art.First Mr Marquand told us what calender art was and what choices we had. I chose a tree out of all of the choices because it looked the most out standing

ANZAC war reflection

Some of the things I learnt were learning about living in the trenches, making poppies, learning about all the wars that have happened in the past and especially the ANZAC war.

we have also been watching videos about the what it is like to live in the trenches and the dangers it can be when your at war.

Mr Marquand told room15 to make trenches out of our tables and our chairs were our barriers. Mr Marquand told room15 to get our topic books out and we had to all find a place in the trench to sit.

 Mr Marquand
played noises of what war would sound like if we were all in war.

We had to write what we sensed, taste, smell, see and here.

I didn't use to think much about war and I wished earlier that I thought more about war because it is a sad thing and lots of men died for us to have piece.

Stop mation explanation

Do you want to see someone slide around on their face? Well stop motion can help you do things like this. Stop motion is making videos out of photos instead of using a video camera.
To do a stop motion film you will need a tripod, a digital camera and a computer. On the computer you will need video editing software.
First of all make a plan for your stop motion. Second put your digital camera on the tripod. Third make a setting of where you want your stop motion to be set and what your back ground is going to be. Then keep on taking photos until you think you have enough photos also each time move the scene a tiny bit. Then once you are finish taking all of the photos you need for your film put them in to video editing software’s like imovie, video spin or windows movie maker. Once you are on editing software you can add sound effects and music and lots of other things and if you are thinking of making a stop motion make it well there is your master peice promote it in any way like on face book, twitter and your blog. Have a good time making a stop motion and make it awesome.

Global school project

Room 15 has been learnig about emaling different schools around the world and what their school looks like and some of the things they do. I emailed China and Rarotonga and I wrote an email asking if they could send us some photos of a normal day of school in their country. I learnt that it isn't as easy as it looks and that if it is your first email you need to make sure that you make it interesting and good to read. I would like to learn about how you send an email on a diffrent profile like internet based ones like hotmail.

Introducing me

Hi my name is Kaawhia. I am a year 6 and I am 10 years old.

I have always lived in Hamilton but I would love to live in Australia because it sounds awesome and I would to go to Disneyland.

One place I love to go is raglan because the lovely beaches and the houses are cool.

Some things I love are animals, sports, movies, music, friends and last of all family.

This is a collage of me. To make this this is what i had to do.

Well first of all you start with a big black and white photo of you. Then you cut out photos from magazines orpersonal photos of you or things you like. As you can see on my portrait theres green at the bottom to full up all the gaps from the photos. At the top I used wallpaper and riped it up and put it on the top. And that is how you make a collage.
